Maria Noel Nieto (she/her/hers) is a Costume Designer and Maker born in Freeport, New York. Her interest in storytelling through clothing was initially sparked by the Star Wars saga; how ingenuity, attention to detail, and depth of character merged together and served to build a more complete world.
Currently working as the Shopper and Assistant to the Director of Costume at the New York City Ballet, Maria’s work has also been seen on the stages of such companies as the Santa Fe Opera, KCRep, Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, and Atlantic Stage in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
She received her MFA in Costume Design and Technology from the University of Missouri - Kansas City, and her BFA in Theatre Design and Technology from Coastal Carolina University.
In her free time Maria enjoys digital painting, video games, romance novels, and playing Dungeons and Dragons.
